Filling tank with water when hardscaping

Does anyone fill their tanks with water whilst laying out their hardscapes? Thinking of filling/draining in-between rearranging my new hardscape since sometimes I find it hard to visualize what it would look like with the water refraction.

That's the way I used to do it way back in the day and I think so did a lot of folk. However, it is much easier to do it dry, but you're right the water distorts, foreshortens and compresses the view. if you bare this in mind whilst constructing the hardscape in the dry it becomes easier to arrange satisfactorily. And eventually with practice you can pretty much visualise how it will look when flooded. Less mess and dry shirt sleeve are always a bonus too :)
