I have a small 2 gallon tank that i just recently bought ment for shrimp. Anyhow i put an Amazon Sword in there today along with some vallis, Bacopa caroliniana and Alternanthera reineckii 'Pink'. The Vallis and the Amazon Swords leaves are out the top of the water. I bought the Swords from Java-Plants and i think it has a flower growing from it, will the leaves be okay out the top of the water?

Echinodorus spp. are primarily amphibious bog plants, very few are actually true aquatics. So most species will grow very well out of water. If kept submerged for a long time they develop an aquatic form which often differs in leaf structure. Mostly they are farmed in the emersed form; so algae is not an issue. So if they are newly purchased it is likely that they are already adapted for emersed growth.

i thought they might of been grown emersed, a lot of the leaves melted when i first put it in.
