Hello all.

For a new tank I ordered a pot of giant hairgrass and I wondered if I should trim back te leaves before planting it? Like I would do for E. vivipara or E accicularis..

I have no experience with Eleocharis montevidensis but had planned on putting it in a recent setup, having read it seems to melt on a lot of people I asked Dave from aquarium gardens about his experience with it, its in at least one tank at the showroom he said that it can be a bit difficult in newly set up tanks and often melt away, he said he waited a number of weeks before adding it to his tanks. I chose to use Vallisneria nana instead and may go back to Eleocharis montevidensis if I'm not happy with the vallis.

Hard to say what I'd do, cut it back or not I'd probably leave it as is.

Depends on the state of the plant tbh. I'd probably cut most of it just to be sure, just leaving the freshest growth.
