Electric blue ram sex

The dorsal fin is not as distinct as I would normally see in males. However, the 2-3 very long distinct spikes makes me say its a male. That, and its overall elongated body shape. The females are more stubby.

Cheers,
Michael

Thanks Michael. I've looked at so many of these fish over the last few weeks and what makes it more tricky is that they vary so much, presumably as a result of selective breeding. I've seen malkes with much more elaborate / flowing dorsal fins, but as you say the longer body shape of mine and the more pointy face looks more male. If I compare with the normal german blue ram, the females are almost always more stubby. My difficulty is that I just can't find anywhere with a female. Lots of "tiddlers" than could be females, but equally, an immature male.
