Can I just clarify, if not using CO2 do you still dose the same amounts but alternate macro and micro each day?

I’m using EI on my big tank and Tropica Specialised Nutrition on my 60P Low tech tank at the moment. Would be easier to just use the same method.

With EI and separate Macro And Micro solutions, you should be dosing on alternate days anyway. If not using C02, you plants will not need as much nutrition, and you can dose less.

My mate has a 120l tank with a single T5 tube with 1/3 the tube blocked off by foil, to reduce light levels and he doses less than 1/4 EI dose levels maybe twice a week, if he remembers. Plants grow, algae free, but slowly.

You won't need to dose the full EI amount if you aren't adding CO2.

You've reduced the amount of CO2 by about an order of magnitude (30 ppm CO2 to ~3 ppm ), and plants are carbon based, so almost certainly CO2 is now the <"limiting nutrient">. In terms of fertiliser addition. You can either regularly add a <"fraction of the EI dosing"> , or you remove CO2 availability from the equation by using the <"health and growth of a floating plant"> (with access to 400 ppm of atmospheric CO2) as an indication of nutrient status.

At he moment I'm using an <"approach that has a bit of both">.
