I just received an Eheim Classic 2211 (150) from Amazon, but it came with an EU plug. Is it ok to just replace with a UK one (13a?)?

I really don't want the bulk at the socket with an adapter, nor the hassle of sending it back.

Thanks for any advice.

Hi
Shouldn't be a problem....attaching a UK plug would use a 3amp or a 5amp fuse though!
Germany 230 V 50 Hz C / F
Ghana 230 V 50 Hz D / G
Gibraltar 230 V 50 Hz G
Great Britain (GB) 230 V 50 Hz G

Remember, unlike what most of the public thinks "a fuse is to stop people getting electric shocks" (NOT) a fuse is to protect the cable if the appliance has a fault. If the appliance fails to dangerous and starts talking too much current (very common fault condition for motors ie vacuum cleaner etc) the fuse blows before too much current is drawn overloading and melting (and fire) the cable. This is why a correct fuse should be used.

For a filter with probably only 3A rated cable the cable will catch fire first if a 13A fuse is fitted. With a 3A fuse it will blow before cable damage occurs. This is why a correctly rated fuse should always be fitted. No 13A fuses, no tin foil, no nails and no paper clips....
