Hi there,

Well I will probably be told its aquarium detritus and be embarrassed, but can anyone tell me what this is on my anubias leaves ? Is it just fish poo (in which case why is it so localised?) or is it eggs ? (Would have thought it was wrong colour but what do I know, lol).

Its the little black things. Sorry for the appalling image quality.

Algae mate, anubias is very prone to algae, get it in the shade.

Hey foxfish. Its definitely not algae ! I just wafted a spoon above the leaves and it flew right off. Im picking fish poo.

I am not sure if the best way is to remove the leaf, that is what I do anyway!

Some folk say you can use a soft tooth brush?

I really like the plant but it is a challenge to keep it alga free, I attach the rhizomes to small pebbles or larva rock so they can be removed for maintenance.
If you leave the plant in one place near the substrate for to long it will send down deep roots that make it hard to remove.
So I remove my specimens every few weeks to clean them up, trim roots & remove effected leaves. 🙂
EDIT...
O well ... not algae for the time being ... that's good but trust me it will come.
