Dirt/soil capped..

Will dirt/soil capped with coarse sand (1-3mm) eventually over time, end up migrating to the top. So you end up with sand capped with dirt/soil?

Was thinking about using Tropica plant growth substrate capped with coarse sand (1-3mm) have seen it used on here, but not sure if it will show long term.

Any help much appreciated.

No, in my experience. Just need to make cap deep enough,and resist the urge to uproot plant's frequently.
All my tanks presently are dirt capped with about two inches to four inches of sand, or Black diamond blasting media.
