This is one of those things that could turn out to be a really stupid question, but here goes-

I was wondering, is there anything wrong with lighting a cube tank with a tube, diagonally? Corner to corner rather than the usual whole way across the tank?

I think it's more an aesthetic consideration than anything else, although light spill is likely to be increased at the corners due to there being a smaller area either side of the bulb. Basically, it's not wrong, just less efficient.

I belive there's no problem.
Maybe the light distribution is not paralel to the glass, and the plants, are they arranged in a paralel line?
Maybe you can put a larger tube on top, and that can be good sometimes.
The real point is, does it work?
Do you like the result?
In my thanks i'm trying to light diferent plants with diferent light outputs.
Still a lot do discover.
cheers
