hi all
so, here's my first journal, warts and all!
its a bit backdated as i havent got around to doing the journal
Its heavily influenced (a rip-off if you will!) of Cliff Hui's "Destiny" from a good few years ago
its a tank i've always really liked and after neglecting my own tank (cosmetically) for years
i decided to start fresh and try emulate the elements of "destiny" that i love
while getting back into hi-tec (its my only tank, i have tried and failed before to maintain an aquascape)
straight off my tank is way smaller and really poor in depth (36" x 12" x 15"h) 100l ish
but i decided to just go for it, i will be replacing the tank soon, the seals are full of algae,
i really wanted something set up for christmas, which was achieved somewhat,
its actually going really well which i put down to medium strenght old fashioned pll lighting on a short cycle
i have lots of little questions brimming away though of course!
tank info.......
36 x 12 x 15" (91cm x 30cm x 375mm) 108 litres or close enough i think
PLL shape compact flourescents - 54w - 6 hours a day
850lph AquaOne external, Koralia nano
co2 running pretty hard - i have a diffuser inside a tiny internal filter which chews it up even more and delivers across the substrate really well (not pretty but effective for now) on for two hours before lights on and off an hour before, EI dosing as per clive tutorial on here, full dose easycarbo from day one
plants.....
monte carlo, hc cuba, e. acicularais, e. "mini", xmas moss (salvaged and in iffy condition!)
and echino. qaudristatus as a filler to settle things in
fish.......
20 wild neons, 6 cory habrosus and 3 ottos (also one hastatus and one microrasbora, mistake netting!)
akadama with kitty litter top ( i ran out of akadama) no substrate ferts
winewood? grapevine? whatever its called! and seriyu stones
the inspiration.........
the plants......
the scape......
planted......(complete pain in the blahblahblahblah with the in-vitro MC and HC!)
settling in........
today!
really pleased so far, severe lack of depth at the back after settling
wish i put in supports, i was about to but thought it would stay put! doh!
no algae whatsoever! (fingers crossed) was completely swamped on my other attempt!
thanks for reading, i have lots of questions despite my initial success!
cheers
