Finally got most of the things I need and I’m ready to start making my first aquascape. It’s my first aquarium since childhood. Exited and terrified at the same time.

Aquarium arrived very well packed. Box will be of use later. Unfortunately the space is limited, so 30L will have to do. The tank is Dennerle Nano Cube 30L, in “white glass”. 30x30x35cm

Was sent wrong filter without the heater, but correct one was sent immediately and arrived next day. Filter is Eden 511-100W. Looks identical to Oase Filtosmart 100 Thermo, minus grey colour and stand. £35 cheaper.

Some more pictures from last 2 weeks or so.

Bought some wood. Ouch, almost £100 for 4 sticks! Took them home and later returned two :D

Nice rocks, but having a bit of buyers remorse after visiting local garden centre and beach.

Unfortunately no aquascaping stores locally, and not sure what buying online. Still, ordered some Dennerle gravel…

Hi all,

They won't be exactly the same aesthetic quality but <"PYO Oak (Quercus spp.)"> is a lot cheaper.

cheers Darrel
Thank you for the tip!

It’s got expensive very quickly…
Sacrifice had to be made. Sold my 5 year graphics card. Amazingly due to very high demand for GPUs easily sold it for £250 and that was a price for a friend. Good thing I migrated to Xbox.

Still, more things are being sold on eBay to make the costs of this new hobby more reasonable 😅

Wood been soaking for over a week now.

Dojo is cool, and I really like the Dennerle cubes, I still have a few (not running). Looks like you're going have a really nice little setup. Whats the plan for planting?

I desperately need to upgrade my GPU.

Not sure about plants yet. Will be asking for suggestions soon :)

Any tips?
(1) Pour the beer before you start
(2) It takes way longer than you expect
(3) If you are attaching epiphytes you will end up with superglue on your elbow
(4) Have a spray mister on hand to keep plants damp whilst you're planting. Then you don't feel under time pressure
(5) Have fun!

Thank you, I didn’t think of the beer!
I’m using glue regularly at work, so hopefully will not glue myself to hardscape XD
