Daphnia culture, and midges

Does anyone have any tried and tested ways to removes midges from a daphnia culture? I didn't expect it, but my dog decided to remove the mesh cover for a drink from the barrel, and that sunny day of exposure was enough.

I think I'm going to have to start again.

I would use the midge larvae as an additional live food source. Eventually you'll remove all of them or they will turn into midges and your culture will be free of them again.

l look on them as a bonus as well.

I feed midges to my fish, always have however, they're a bit of a nuisance when they don't get eaten.
