Co2 Regulator Question

I have a JBL regulator (from the easy set 1) attached to a 2Kg FE via an adaptor I bought off Aquaessentials. What I really want to know is whether anyone else has done something similar and how safe it is.

My concern is really whether the regulator will be able to handle a CO2 dump when the FE is almost empty. Are there other issues I'm missing?

My JBL regulator has dumped on me, but you should still have a week or so of warning when the cylinder starts to empty.

Hopefully, they will have changed the regulator, as the adjustment on mine is very coarse.
