CO2 Hang-on drop checker getting clogged up

Is anyone else having a problem with this type of CO2 drop checker getting clogged up with a film?

I have an aversion to sucker cups inside the tank but may have to swap it for one of the traditional ones.

Yes I have one, I retired it almost immediately.
It is very slow to react, both before and after the gas has come on and finished.
It looks good but really it's a bit gimmicky.
