cleaning substrate

Hi this is my second post here. So my question is how do you clean a dirt substrate that has been coverd with small gravel over the top, should i not bother i have a 40gal with tetra and 4 angels and a few plants if i put a graval vac in there it will mix my graval with my dirt is this ok? any advise? Thanks

Gravel clean lightly over the surface...you do not need to force the gravel vac deep into the substrate.
