In the tank - toothbrush and dilute H2O2, or liquid carbon.
Outside the tank - water with a couple of capfuls of mild unscented bleach and scrubbing brush, or jet wash.
Not at all, rocks need it to look aged and natural.. It's also food for snails, shrimps and hopefully some fish fry now and then..
Once, in the beginning, i gave it a try and cleaned them all, the way Tim says, works like a charme.. But after all the hard work it was looking a bit to clean actualy like a surreal utopia.. Now i'm glad it all grew back again.. What i'm curious about is, why only the rock accumulate that algae, because i do have very little on the plants and wood.
It's a matter of taste i guess, i call it decorative algae..
