So, what's the secret to get the balance of plants right? By that I mean the right appearance, sizes etc - no matter what or where I read there is that forever difference in opinion and it leaves me with questions.
Is this an impossible question for someone to help me answer?

I go with, if I like it, then I'm happy. But im easily pleased as my tank would not win any competition, lol.

Experience.. :) That's all to it.. Next to that "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". And it is your tank, you look at it day in day out.. So it has to look appealing to you.. Never read beauty magazines, they only make you feel ugly..

Take a look at the Tropica website, 'inspiration' section - it's really useful to see various plants grown next to each other and clearly labeled, from which to draw ideas
