Changing substrate

Currently my substrate is a mix of Ada amazonia and eco complete. Originally I couldn't find Ada amazonia nearby so I bought eco complete. Then I found the Ada amazonia so I ended up using both. I find the eco complete difficult to plant in.
The left half of the tank is amazonia and the right hand side is eco complete. Should I change the right hand side to a soil based substrate like Ada amazonia or Carib sea samurai soil? Or should I leave it as it is? Any tips on how to make it easier to plant on the right hand side. I ordered myself some Monte Carlo and marsila Hirusta which will be going on the right hand side. I have attached a picture of the tank.
