Celestial pearl danio, acting like... Goldfish?

Hi guys, I have a community tank with ember tetra, cpd, pygmy Cory, otos.

cpd tend to stay at the bottom eating on the soil. Is this a correct behavior?

When I feed the tank I check that everyone eats.

These little fish like small live food so could well be feasting on little critters at the substrate level.

is possible that i have "live food" in the substrate if it is a fresh aqua soil, cycled with 2 months of dark start (so nothing added except ammonia released by AS) and then planted (at the same time i added livestock) 3 weeks ago?

I've seen 2 behaviours. Once I kept them with chili rasboras and they were active in all layers of the aquarium. I then put them in their own aquarium, and they became MUCH more reclusive, staying very close to the substrate and hardscape.
