I planted UG and it was gorgeous for about a month... then brown algae started and it just seemed to loose all its colour and it seemed to have less ‘plump’ blades... but it keeps growing... Is it a deficiency or is it UG which I keep hearing is super finicky when submersed?... I’m wondering if that’s what is cause the brown algae now? Any suggestions would be great! My camera enhances the colour so I can’t get a photo that shows it as dull as it really looks.

Without an image of the plants and a FTS and detailed info on your setup it's pretty much impossible to tell whether it's transitioning, melting, or just covered in diatoms. In answer to the title question, in the case of UG very doubtful unless the parent plant puts out runners first, and these continue to grow.
