Hi All, first time poster so please bare with and also fairly new to the world of aquatics plumbing.

I want to use an external filter on a new paludarium style tank that’s about to be made. It’s 50cm x 50cm x 100cm (tall). There is no option for the usual up and over as the top is meshed/glass as this tank will house frogs & fish.

Now the bottom of the tank is about 60-70L of water (all water). I’m struggling to try and figure out how I can plumb in an external canister filter for filtration. The tank is not made yet so I can have drills holed/positioned anywhere (bottom or back) for bulkheads.

I’m looking at the Fluval 107 filter but trying to work out how I can convert the plumbing to it to bulkhead is driving me nuts.

Please help with suggestions.

I have a fluval tank that has an under tank access rather than over the top. You can actually purchase a full fluval under tank connection kit that you could purchase and then drill your holes to match the sizes of the inlet/ outlet pipes. I have seen the kits for sale on Amazon. It might do the trick and at least you know it will all connect to the fluval filter no problem

Yeah I saw one of these in store this morning. Unfortunately the way they are constructed means the tall tube is the top half of the bulkhead. It doesn’t use a seperate one. My water level is only 25cm and those tubes don’t go that short.

I seem to remember mine was one tube that slid over another one to make it adjustable. Could you not shorten both parts to reduce the minimum height or do they not come apart?
