Bubble Counter evaporation ??

Just a Quick question ??
I have a Bubble Counter attached to my Reg. and have noticed that the water seems to evaporate over a few days..
As the Non-Return Valve is part of the Bubble Counter , I`m worried that this leaves me vulnerable with any back flow of water from Tank.
Anyone experience this as Normal ?
Thinking of getting a better Bubble Counter .. Any recommendations appreciated ..
Thanks ,
Paul

It's difficult to know what's going on without seeing the setup but I would think it's unlikely to be evaporating. When my solenoid is off the water from my bubble counter is 'sucked' into the pipework, it goes back into the Bubble Counter when the CO2 is turned back on (build up of pressure etc). I have got a non return valve between my BC and my regulator etc though, I wouldn't want the water to get past that into my solenoid and reg etc.

I recently swapped my BC from a PITA glass on to this Fluval one which is very easy to use.

Thank James,
I`m setting up an Inline Reactor(DIY) over the next week, so I think its time to change BC as well . Thanks for the Link to the Fluval,
Paul

Mine also seems to evaporate, at least it's not going anywhere else. I top it up again every couple of weeks. Doesn't seem to affect it's operation when empty though.

That`s interesting..
My BC attaches to the Reg directly , and then the Tubing goes from the BC to the Tank. It is quite Small, and only holds a small amount of water. The operation works ok, but was just concerned about its reliability.
Thanks for imput.

I have the same type Paul, and it evaporates also. Usually a month before I have to refill.

Don't worry about back flow, after all, the water inside your chamber doesn't get back through to the reg does it 😉 back flow would simply fill your bc chamber and you'd hope the nrv built in does its job!

It's perfectly normal to get evaporation in your bc, non return valve or not. You can buy bubble counter fluid which is oil based which I use, 9 months no top up. Not an issue with some bc's but others are a PITA to fill so almost a necessity unless you enjoy unleashing the hulk 🙂

Thanks Guys,
Puts my mind at ease.
TBH ..Not too impressed with the BC ... Had a Leak in it already, and had to use PTFE tape on the threads . Maybe I was meant to do this on initial set up ?🙁
Seems OK for now though.
Thanks Again
Paul
