Hi
I came back from my holidays last weekend and contrary to the belief that both my aquascapes would be a mess, they were actually thriving.
Normally that is good news, but i felt the need to work on a new scape.
Sunday i was preparing to do maintenance on the oldest of my scapes and just decided i really needed something new, and started tearing it down.
I moved my fish in to another tank and started the disassembly.
While at it i was making decisions on my new scape, i always exercise my creativity by designing scapes in my head, scapes that sometimes make it to the tank, others never become more than an idea.
So out of my ideas i was thinking what was i gonna assemble in this tank.
By the time the tank was empty and only with the substrate left i had a complete plan of a scape, including materials and plants to buy during the next week or so to make it happen.
I stopped to grab a bite and while at it, sat down in front of the empty tank staring at it and the rocks on the floor, and plants in the bucket.
Like i said i was bored, so i decided to play around a bit with the tank, before completely tearing it down and cleaning it.
I started playing around with the rocks to see what kind of harscape i could come out of the same set of rocks from the previous scape, but always with the idea of tearing it down in the end.
I let loose my imagination and had some fun for a good part of the afternoon and came out with something special.
To my eye it looked so good that i decided there that it would be my next scape.
But i was still determined to get new plants so i left the tank empty for another day.
The next day after work i once again sat in front of the tank to see if the scape still looked as good as i imagined and to decide what plants i was about to order, i had decided no to use HC again from the previous scape.
But while imagining that scape with all kinds of plants the only thing coming to my mind was that the HC lying in the bucket was the best plant for it.
So with that decided planting started imediately.
Because this scape was made of impulses and not of planned thinking i did not take pictures of the assembly, for that i apologize.
The scape was named "Born from the ashes". The reason is that all the harscape, substrate and plants used where recycled from my previous scape.
So out of my old scape a new was born.
And here are the pics:
The old scape
"New beginning"
And from it's ashes:
"Born from the ashes"
And now the tank specs:
Tank : 40 cm x 20 cm x 25 cm
Filtration : all pond solutions HOB
Heater : 25 watts
Lighting : 3x 8 watts T5 (five hours a day)
Hardscape: Landscape rocks
Substrate : Unipac black sand (from the old scape) capped with Unipac limpopo black sand (new)
Fertile soil : Tropica plant growth
Co2: pressurized system with 3 kg bottle and solenoid
Hope you guys like it.
