Best soil to use

Hello.
I’m looking to cover my soil with a membrane and add white sand too...

is there a “best type” of soil to use or are all soil types the same ?

What kind of soil are you referring to? Are you capping an aquasoil like tropica or ADA, or do you mean garden/potting soil? If it’s regular soil then refer to @Tim Harrison ’s guide in the tutorial section on dirted tanks.
