With thanks for all the help re the background of my 180L low tech (echinodorus plants now in the basket), I'm now looking to sort the foreground. I tried S Repens a couple of times but my mandano substrate is pretty inert and I think it needed more than root tabs to get going.

Right now I've got a LOT of Wendtii green that I grew emersed, but this is becoming a bit big for the foreground, and looks rather uniform.

A search suggests:
Cryptocoryne albida brown
Cryptocoryne costata
Cryptocoryne legroi
Cryptocoryne Parva

Are these my best bet? I'm aware they'll grow slow...so maybe I should grow some emersed first as I did the W Green? Unless I can get a lot cheaply somehow :
