The photo shows the bottom of my 1m x 42cm x 45cm tank.
Does this need to sit on polystyrene or is it classed as a floating base?
Thanks

it certainly looks like it has already got a reinforced frame.
from what i am aware it would always be a good idea to put it on a slightly forgiving surface rather that a rigid one.
lets see what someone else says.
I think if you calculate how much water weight the tank will be plus hardscape etc then it will look like an even better idea to put it on a pad!

Given the fact that only the plastic rim or frame touches whatever the tank rests on, foam really isn’t necessary provided the surface is smooth & level.

All the tank weight rests on the frame, which in turns needs only a flat, smooth, level surface to stand on.

So I have never used anything under framed tanks except for a cut to size piece of plywood, which helps protect the surface & does a decent job of soaking up drips without deteriorating like particle board or MDF etc, if it has to.

Though I generally cover the plywood with clear heavy vinyl sheet so it won’t get wet either.
