Hi, does anyone have this Aquanano 60/100 tank?
I keep finding shrimp and now one of my Kuli Loaches sitting the section where my pump is.
Does anyone know how to stop this from happening please?

I have included the manual for reference and if you go to page 3, they sit at the bottom, the shrimp seem to find their own way out but I have to keep rescuing the loach.

Does the filter compartment have a lid?
If not then a piece of acrylic, cut to filter compartment size, will stop them getting in.

I made my own back filter and realised that I would need a lid to stop the pesky snails getting in.

You'll need to cover the inlet grill with something they can't fit through, stainless mesh or even some sponge behind it will work.

Hi @The grumpy one, no, there is no lid on the filter system, however the main glass lid for the tank over hangs but doesn't fully cover the filter system. I think with your advice and @Nick potts's advice, I will do both. I have noticed that there is a small slit on the right hand side of the tank, roughly 15mm long and 4mm wide, this also leads to the pump. I'm assuming that they are getting in from this. I have also observed the Kuli loaches swimming to the top of the tank on the right hand side, if they hit the glass lid, they could end up in the pump section as the lid over hangs like I said earlier. If i use some mesh to cover the slit, can I use superglue without removing the fish and water first?

Thanks in advance for your help, much appreciated

How high have you got the water in the tank? It should come up about halfway (or a bit lower) on the inlet slots, this should also stop them getting over the top of the filter.

It's about 3/4 up on the inlet slots. I have just ordered some glass edge trim, as I've have just noticed that the glass lid does not sit flush on the front section of the glass that houses the filters and pump. This should stop them from jumping into those sections. I will get some stainless steel mesh to cover the inlet. I need the water level high at the minute as I bought the tank second hand and it didn't come with the long pipe so I can sit the pump on the floor of the tank (now ordered). The Kuli Loach is refusing to come out and I don't have a net small enough to fit down the section where the pump sits (now ordered). I have dropped some food in there and the net should come tomorrow.

My new smaller net arrived today and Kuli Loach has been rescued, glass edge trim fitted and stainless steel mesh (aquatic safe) has been ordered and should arrive tomorrow. Still waiting on the pump accessories to arrive, but I have another question, with live plants in my tank, do I need an air stone? I've seen so many planted tanks that don't have one and my opinion is they look better without.
