Hey people,

Another newb here with a ton of questions for you!! 😉 (sorry!!)

Name's Rob, live in York, mid 30's 🙄, young child and an interest in aquatic fish and more recently plants as well.

Kept fish as a young teen, goldies and an odd cichlid here and there but haven't had fish again until the start of this year when I bought a 40cm cube (Aquanano 40). Soon filled that with fish and easy plants etc and then talked 'er indoors' into a bigger tank, so now have a Fluval Roma 125. Main details as follows:

Fluval Roma 125 litre (80cm x 35cm x 45cm)
TMC Grobeam 600 Ultima Twin & Aquaray Controller (currently 6hrs/day +30 min sunrise/set, 65% max output)
Hydor 200W External Inline Heater
Aquamanta EFX200 (800lph) External
Koralia Nano 900 Circ Pump
Fire Extinguisher CO2 (switched on a week ago)
JBL Aquabasis+ & Unipac Sand Substrate

Tank was filled/planted at the end of August, filter media and fish transferred a week later, and a week after that the dreaded algae started to turn up which i'm on with battling against now!!

I daily dosed with Neutro T and Neutro CO2 for the 1st few weeks until I got the CO2 switched on, since then i've switched to Neutro+ and Neutro CO2 daily.

I shall most likely be making my next post in the Algae forum to see what you guys can make of my tank!!

Nice to meet you all and thanks in advance for any/all of your help 🙂 🙂

Rob

Hi Rob and welcome! 🙂

With patience and implementing the good advice from the wise folk on UKAPS I'm sure your algae will soon clear.

Thanks George, I admire your work sir!! I'm a member over on PFK and have already gleened many useful tips from some of your articles 🙂. So thanks!

Hello Rob 🙂 I've been an still currently battling different kinds of algae,I'm just gradually turning light time down and upping co2🙂

You are also an angler Kirk i see. I too fish for carp 😉

Thanks for the welcomes 🙂

Yes indeed ,I'm still carping the river at the moment, I wait for the first heavy frost before I start my piking🙂

Hi and thanks again everyone. Andy, have we met?! lol 😀

Nice fish Kirk, will dig out my couple of '50's' photos soon 😉

50's! Wow never fished abroad, only because I know so many anglers now who won't fish UK , they just save up for trips to France or Spain all they want is whackers , I fear I'd be the same. 🙂

Hey Kirk,

This mid 50 is a Frency 😉

But this mid 50 is from a day ticket water in Kent 😉

I tend to fish tough waters here (so don't catch much lol), so I take France on face value, the opportunity to catch more fish in a week than an average year! With some lumps chucked in for good measure. French 30's and 40's are no more meaningful than a nice Yorkshire 20! In fact, 2 weeks ago I caught my first 3 carp of the year from a legendary water with history in Northampton, nothing over 17lb, but those fish meant the world!! 🙂

Rob

Man, you'll need a big tank for those😎

Yep, proper tank busters for sure! Although Clarissa (once the UK record carp) was kept in an aquarium in London Zoo until she passed away (I believe) 🙂

Welcome to UKAPS Rob 🙂 great catches btw! 😉
