Hi UKAPS community,

Names Nick. I've been keeping fish now for over twenty years and, though that would imply I have lots of "experience", I've never really dabbled with live plants. (Probably because I tried unsuccessfully and naively in my early teens planting live plants into a pure gravel substrate, no CO2, heater and questionable lights).

Today I own two aquariums;
  • 135-litre Aquael Glossy Cube stocked with shrimp, fish and silk plants. It runs a Fluval 207, Fluval e200 heater and whatever LED lights shipped with it.
  • 55-litre Aqua One Aqua Nano [cube] with just one Drawf Guramis. (I've never had a fish kill another in all my years of owning fish, including several betas, but this chap laid waste to his seven Ember Tetra tank mates in <4 hours from introduction). It runs a Fluval U2 and Fluval e100 heater.
I've just finished reading George Farmer's aquscaping book, and I'm here to learn from others and share my own [limited] expertise. I have a project in mind: a 60-litre cube replacement for the Aqua Nano which I plan to build a low tech setup, details of which I will no doubt share in other threads.

Look forward to contributing.

Nick
