hi all

i did a search, assumed this would have come up before but didnt see anthing

have plenty of akadama but want to try aquasoil
could i build up a bit with akadama and cap with aquasoil to keep the cost down?
will it be a mess in time, will the akadama come up through the aquasoil?

this might be a stupid question but,,,,,,,
could i bag the akadama in a net bag, i may up replacing the glass tank in a few months
it would be lovely to have the aquasoil entact and not mixed up,
i assume rooting would be an issue getting into the netting?
but im not planning to grow heavy rooters, it will be grasses and cuba
its a 36 x 12 x 15(d) tank about 100litres

any advice welcome

thanks

Akadama is good wont mess up.. But if you throw one un top of the other it will eventuely mix up.. Akama has a pretty rough structure depending on it's size and hardness it can be a challange to get the larger plants in deep enough. But if you are not planting like this and only will use the akadama for elevation than yes you could bag it up or use root cloth on top.

thanks marcel, thats great

i have the original redline akadama (the one people generally say is the hardest)
What's the netting bag you used in the photo? I want to make sure what I use is inert, prefer the bag idea to the matting, I'd imagine there less chance of anerobic conditions with the bag method, cheers
