Hi again.
I am looking for some advise/feedback on my current tank. I have had tropical fish for around 2 years. First tank was 70L, second was 180L and my newest tank which I got about 6 weeks ago is 400L with 100L sump.
I decided with this tank that I want to have real plants. I put some black sand substrate in with some plant soil and small rock (cant remember the names but they are both for planted tanks).
I have some white slate, a few plants and some mopani wood in there just now. The sump flow in chamber has some coarse filter media, the next baffle has medium filter media, fine filter media, some fine floss and then ceramics. The center chamber has a kind of bio ball bag. The return chamber has my 2 heaters and return pump. The return output is connected to a spray bar.
I knew I needed to inject co2 into the tank for the plants so I looked up some forums for a DIY setup as one from the shop was around £3-400. I got a fire extinguisher from work the other and ordered a regulator with solenoid, bubble counter with non-return valve and an atom diffuser.
I am wondering if I can inject the co2 into the sump where my return pump is as the atom diffuser is causing a lot of micro bubbles which doesn't look the best in the main tank. I don't want to have to drill into my return line in case I get any leaks. I have also heard of reators but not really sure what the best plan is. Any suggestions?
I would also like any input anyone may have to my current tank setup and the sump setup. I was not sure what to put where in the sump when I got it so I kinda just set it up the way it is.
Thanks. Looking forward to any and all replies/commets.
