Advice on new canon macro lens for fish tank photos

I have a canon 350D, with various lenses, but currently I have no macro lens.  Been meaning to get one, especially with tank photography in mind.

I'm considering the canon 100mm macro, for about 400 quid, and the 100mm L IS, which is going for about 740 quid, though potentially more like 580-600 quid via eBay/hong kong sites.

Can anyone advise on the quality of either of these lenses, particularly w.r.t. Tank photography (eg would it be better with a 60mm macro lens, or the 135mm even though this is pricey)?  If I can find the cash, my experience of L lenses is that the pictures are almost always better, all other things being equal, but given my lack of experience I would definitely appreciate any advice.

Cheers,

Nick

Hi, I've found the 100mm to be wonderful, though if I had the cash the L version would have been my choice. The IS should let you extend shutter speed a stop or two which is always nice when light levels seem to be the bain of shooting macro.

The picture quality will be amazing with both so you can't really go wrong there bud.
