Well it's been a while. But I finally decided to strip down my main tank and start again. It's taken me all day to drain the tank, remove the plants and substrate. Tank cleaned, and drained again.
Now planning a simple rescape for a Discus biotope. The wood in the photos (5pieces in total) is staghorn oak collected locally, jet washed and cut to fit.
I am only replanting the Cryptocoryne Ballansai and a few other Cryptocoryne species and that it.
In the areas where I am putting the plants (to the right of the tank) I am using a mix of JBL Volcanic Mineral together with JBL Manado Planting Soil. But the whole lot will be capped off with 5cm of Unipac Maui Fine Quartz Sand, so none of the Volcanic Mineral or the Manado will be visible.
The staghorn Oak has not been soaked, so I am going to have to use suction cups and clips to anchor it in position. I just hope the suction cups are strong enough to hold it in place. There are 2 x large pieces, and 3 x smaller pieces.
Any thoughts or suggestions on wood placement would be welcome.
Thanks.
