Up until this point I started with the light on 50% and increased 10% per week.

I was only dosing 2ml of tropical specialised fertiliser until I did my research and I'm now dosing 7ml per day and it's been roughly a week so pics will follow, hopefully start seeing some of the reds showing soon

49ml of Tropica specialised a week into a 70 litre tank?

I had thought that tanks with CRS will normally use "lean dosing" as CRS are not "happy" with EI levels of dosing in the water column.... however, if you are succeeding that's useful info as I'm interested in trying CRS once my tank stabilises. They are rather expensive so I want to make sure they will survive ... :)

Yes i watched a george farmer video on youtube about dosing ammounts with tropica for low medium and high tech 5ml per 50L is suggested for this setup.

I will keep you updated, ive not noticed any issues so far with the shrimp, if anything all livestock are thriving and plants also. the only algea ive had is very slight green algea on the front glass. They are abit steep i think they were about £6 each lol

So far the tank has been a success as ive had multiple attempts with scaping this tank before and its been alot of algea then ive learnt from al the mistakes. Going to post up pics later or tomorrow of where its at now.

Here is a link to the video where its explained how much for each kind of setup so it may vary for you. This setup fell into the high energy setup which is 5ml per 50L per day again its going to vary with each setup so could still need adjusting but its working for me now.

Everything seems to be going well! Only thing I’ve changed is I’ve turned the flow up to get better c02 circulation as I think there’s a dead spot in the rear right corner. With the lily pipes the flow seems fine for the fish which I thought it would be too much for them because with a spray bar, half the power was too much.

Noticing the stems of the plants looking a lot healthier, just stunted growth on rotala h ra is back right corner. I’ve also placed the drop checker in this corner too so I know there’s enough C02. So now it’s time to just give it time and again another week or two but so far so good, no algae, all fish and shrimp doing well

The floating plants are finally starting to turn red

Feel like there’s a lot of stem plants in the background which will look better over time as the all are still green so can’t tell them apart but there’s 6 different stem plants in the background, so looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Il be interested to see which carpet plant takes over as well I have:
eleocharis acicularis
eleocharis parvula
Monte carlo

Marsilea crenata

I decided to add some sand which turned into a full rescape!

Still looking about messy after replanting but it will soon sort itself. Think I need to work on the rotala growth in the background as they are very slow growing and not looking too healthy.

I've taken away the foreground plant on the wood aswell as it was too distracting from the gap at the back where the rotala will eventually fill!

Bearing in mind you basically ripped the scape apart & redid it, all the plants seem to be bouncing back remarkably well.
If everything grows in as you want it will have much more depth & impact than the previous one.
Rather a steep learning curve though! 😊

That's good to hear then! I put a lot more thought into the rescape where I placed the plants and wood this time.

not ran into any already problems yet so that's a good sign too. The floating plants are growing quickly aswell now I'm just trying to find the right amount of fertiliser per day somewhere between 4-6ml a day seems best

Big clean done today, glass pipes and filter all cleaned! Alot more flow to will be interesting to see if there a difference in growth with more c02 getting around the tank better. Plants are already getting going quite fast now.

I have been using experimenting with the fertiliser dosing and for a week or two I've tried 4ml of tropica specialised but I feel like the plant health wasn't as good as I do in one of my other scapes so I'm back to 6ml

Lights have also been turned down to 70% due to algea showing up which I think was due to the rescape, nothing major but I will go up 10% every 5-7 days till I'm back at 100%

I have the C02 on 2 hours before but I might change it to 3 hours as I notice the drop checker is slightly more Lime green towards the end of the day.

2nd trim done tonight so I'm hoping it's going to start looking alot more full in the next few weeks when there's new growth. Hoping to get some reds in the rotala background also but we will see and may have to adjust with the fertiliser. First thing is just to have nice clean and healthy plants.
