Well after some long hard thinking about bringing a little under water world into my living room. I have decided to start small with a dennerle 20l nano cube set.
Which comes with the glass tank, the glass lid a little nano filter and a medium Led light with 500lm
I found it really cheap that someone was selling still in the original packaging
I went out to day and got a nice piece of root wood and a stone of some sort

Hope to get comments and maybe some useful information on how to plant it maybe some plant recommendations or general aquarium chit chat

Well here goes with my journey

I have exactly the same kit, my first ‘proper’ foray into a planted tank back last October (my bundle also came with dennerle deponitmix and gravel from pro shrimp). I really like mine.
I did manage to cook an anubias which was too close to the light on a bit of wood - so mind that... 😳
I went for small, easy plants, but now do kind of wish I had something a little showier/bigger, esp in front of the filter.
Interested to see what you do!

Hey well i have just been reading through you journal your cube looks stunning i just wanted to write a comment, the led is the M Led with 500lm so with the tank dimensions of 25x25x30cm ist about 18.5 liters not exactly 20 so with the soil and hardscape you can probably take away 4 liters so whe have a tank mass of about 14 liter so the led light should be good for the tropica medium plants im planing on adding co2 any way but its all in planing at the moment so im not going to rush i was thinking of getting the fluval plant 3.0 nano led that has 1000lm then i can go for the high plant range of tropica
Tomorrow im going out to get the soil going for ADA amazonia becase there us a bloke in the next village selling a bag un opened for 10€

So this morning I have been looking for plants and I kinda like these
Micranthemum tweeted monte carlo
Phyllanthus fluitans
Anbias barteri petite
Rotala indica bonsai
Rotala rotundifolia hra
Rotala rotundifolia Green
Staurogyne reopens
Bucephalandra kedagang
Hygropholia pinnatifida stem
Bucephalandra wavy Green
Cryptocaryne wendtill Green
Athernunthera reineckii mini

There from the tropica range but I can not decide which ones or how many fir the cube any help or advice would be much appreciated

Tank looks great so far! - I'll definitely be following your journey as I've just picked up a Dennerle 20l as a second project!

I'm still quite new to planted tanks, I set up a larger 100l earlier in the year which is coming a long nicely after many learning curves, so I'm not 100% clued up on plant species/advice. But, if you're new to planted tanks, I'd definitely start with some easy, fast growing plants to get the tank established. An Anubias would look a great centre plant - I have one in my other tank and I absolutely love the way it looks, it's a slow grower but it's hardy and easy to keep. Also java ferns glued to the wood would look nice too! If you're planning on upgrading to high tech in the future, having easy, hardy plants will be better whilst you find the right balance for your tank. I started off low tech and upgraded to high tech two weeks later and the plants were hardy enough to deal with the changing conditions until I found the right balance. I have a Fluval Plant 3.0 on my larger aquarium, I've had it for 2 weeks now and it massively improved my plants and I love the fact I can adjust the settings on it so I too will probably go for the nano version for my Dennerle 20 - there are cheaper alternative lights out there (not 100% sure of them myself but others may offer advice), I've just had a really good experience with my Fluval so far and I like the look of the nano as opposed to others.

When you fill the tank, the wood may float (even after soaking) so it would be a good idea to weigh it down either by tethering/gluing it to a rock or filling a sock/nylon with some sand and placing it on top. It'll stop after a week or so. Within a few days, my wood ended up with white fungus on it (may or may not happen) - this is normal and will go after a few weeks.

Good luck with it, I'm really excited to watch your journey :D

Hi @Leah95, thanks for the info, this will be my first aquascape,I do have a fluval flex 123l as a community fish tank with tropica easy plants,
I want to make just a nano style aquascape will add a few shrimps aswell, yeah I have been looking at the fluval plant nano led its on my wish list cause I want to try some medium to hard plants from the tropica range co2 will also be added I have most of the components bu would like some glass items like bubble counter.
Im really thinking about an outside filter maybe the eheim classic 150 or the oase filtosmart 60, but then again i have seen that there is a extention for the dennerle nano corner filter so I can add a small quantity of filter material.
With the wood im going to glue to the stone that I have because of the floating problem 😀,
I have list of plant that I posted this morning with the plants i would like too add maybe you have some free time to check them out and give me some feedback on what u think.. that would be really cool

Oh the doorbell has just rang and the post man was there got a dennerle nano thermometer 16138260794021869766365173764831.jpg

I really struggled with staurogyne repens in one of my tanks, but that doesn’t mean it won’t work for you - I’m non-CO2.
Also a big thumbs up for anubias, I’ve found them pretty indestructible. Not on your list, but I’m a big fan of my little bucephalandra.

@aec34 the bucephalandra are amazing little plants wanted to add a few too, I wanted to plant first let it grow in a bit see what space is left and add them eventually later, there real easy to add in between cracks in the wood
I quite like this one Screenshot_20210220-190830_Chrome.jpg

Today I ordered my plants from Aquaasbi a aquascaping shop in germany should be sent out tomorrow and hopefully ill have them in my hand on tuesday so ill post some photos when they arrive.

Also i ordered 2 dropper bottles 50ml from amazon the reason why is because I use in my fluval123 tank premium and specialised tropica fertilizer range and because its 2ml for an 100l a day i can transfer the fertilizer over i to the droppers and fertilizer 8 drops per day or how ever many drops i require will also post photos when they arrive
Have a great sunday evening

Just a quick update i glued the root wood to the stone so it says in place the JBL Haru glue says to properly harden it will take 24 hours, hopefully tomorrow its hard and i can put the ADA aquasoil in the cube ready for the plants when the come

Awesome!

Keep us updated on the outcome with the glue. I have the JBL Pro Haru glue but didn't realise it took so long so I ended up getting regular super glue. Haven't used either yet.
