I have a 20 litre tank, i got this a couple oy years ago, it was a "moby blahblahblahblah" brand (the built in hood, light & filter types)
It was in the dinning room doing ok then i have neglected it for months :(
I have moved it to a shelf right next to my pillow:happy:
I have removed the hood, lights, filter and now it has a more modern look:)
    Beamworks clip on LED light
    Hidom 200 hang on filter
The substrate is still the original cat litter
The only plants to survive were a nymphea and some crypts, I have taken the large ones out and trying them emersed in my bowl journal

so heres the state the tank was in

Really nice idea with the soap dish hanging thing.. Is that Anubia? You have buried the rhizome, are you not worried it will not get the required nutrients? I'm genuinely interested in this as I have some emersed Anubia coming and I'm not really sure how to plant it. I didn't want to bury the rhizome really.

Also what is that greenery you put under the metal sheet? You then cover it with soil.. Can you tell me a little more about that?

    Cheers! Jack :)

I put moss at the bottom between 2 sheets of polyethelyne then covered with cat litter, the sheeting stops the cat litter from falling through the holes and im hoping the moss will grow out of them :)
rhizone are not covered, most of the leaves are above the water surface, its anubias nanna bonzai

So how do you plan to grow the moss If its burried under all that cat litter? And so did you just lay the Anubia on the very top of the cat litter? Have not buried the plant at all? What's the cat litter for in that case? Sorry to bombard you with questions! Lol

    Cheers! Jack :)

theres big holes in the bottom of the dish, hence the need for mesh, hope moss grows out of them,
cat litter is light weight and is there just to support the anubias, just like the rock wool its grown in

Sounds interesting, will be keen to see if this works Mate, good luck :) as for the moss I'm pretty sure it will eventually die as it can not get any light to the underside of the tub to support the growth :( cool idea though.
