Hi,

I am using a 150W HQI above my planted tank for a couple of years now. Works great but i want to replace the lightbulb. Before i ordered them in germany from a webshop but this one is gone. And i can't remember what K value i am using (text on the bulb is also gone).

What is the best K value for a planted tank. Should 8000K be fine or is 10000K better?
And what looks better? I don't want a very green or yellow look from it.

Hope you guys can give some advise :)

From the advice given on here by those more experienced, it really doesn't seem to matter so much, the color temperature is more for your viewing preference and how it makes the tank look. It sounds like you're looking for a cooler/colder look though so anything above 8000K would give you that.
Cheers

hi if :):)u have free light and heat would it not be better to grow your plants on an emersed system saving you the cost of the co2 ?
their is a whole section on doing this on this site ! :)
