Much sooner than expected. I have purchased a new aquarium intended for a high tech setup that shall be aptly named “Eden

With much reluctance I have been “allowed” to purchase a new aquarium with the stipulation that my wife picks it.

She has chosen the Waterbox Eden 20, a 45cm cube that comes as an optiwhite aquarium with lid and stand.

I actually really like the idea of a closed system (i.e. it had a lid) as this provides a really neat looking setup IMO. It will also prevent fish loss due to jumping and less evaporation.

Current plan (shopping list)

AI blade freshwater or Twinstar

✅Strideways Co2 regulator (purchased via @Riverwood Aquatics )

Oase Biomaster thermo 350
Aquario inlet and outlet
Substrate system will be Tropica.
Co2 diffuser + non return valve
Scissors
Tweezers
Plants
Clear hose + Co2 tubing + release taps

Dosing yet to decide, but will likely be some form of complete liquid fertiliser.

The scape itself will be plants only, I won’t be following Dutch rules, however I will draw inspiration from Dutch style setups.

Livestock will be some type of Danio or perhaps a pair of something.

And that’s my current plan.

The tank is yet to be dispatched as they’re currently preorder, so plenty of time to gather the above.

Has anyone else ordered one of these?

Cheers,
Chris.

Thanks for sharing - the aquarium looks pretty nice. I am interested in Eden 40, it being a little more compact than other aquascape tanks but still offering good room for plants and fish (price is quire reasonable too!). Would be great to hear your thoughts on the quality once it arrives. I saw people criticising cabinet quality on other models.

When facing partner's opposition, I find convenient to target minimum maintenance tank. Without CO2 and nutrient rich substrate you can still create a beautiful tank and maintenance (as well as costs) may get minimized. 😏

The tank arrived today, first impressions it’s really nice looking and fits our living area well.
I won’t delve into reviewing it or anything as that’s not what this thread is about, nor am I overly concerned about anything.
For south of £280 it’s a lovely little set.

I’m going to live with it empty for a little while, whilst I decide on how this things getting scaped.

Equipment wise, I’ve not actually purchased much just yet, but know what I want, so it’s just a matter of pulling the trigger.

Here’s a few images below. For anyone considering one of these tanks I’m happy to PM and give my views.

Cheers,
Chris.

Just ordered some spontaneous hardscape thankyou to @Riverwood Aquatics for sending stock alerts whilst I’m bored

This means the tank now has some form of direction, the past few days I’ve just sat looking at an empty tank imagining the possibilities of creating a vivarium, or a macro algae tank or even a euphyllia dominated reef.

But now I’ve acquired the strideways regulator and some hardscape, I’m committed to making something freshwater.

Not much in terms of an update or real progress, but a step closer none the less and more of a shameless plug for one of our many incredible sponsors.

(I really like how @Riverwood Aquatics have itemised pieces on their site. So you know what you’re buying)

Cheers,
Chris.
