Charlie here - I'm fairly new to ukaps and this is my first journal post. I've been aquascaping for around 3 years now and this is my first 60p composition. I'll be sharing updates as things progress over the months and welcome any feedback along the way.
Side note: does anyone else...
This is my 4th tank, but I'm still learning. I am getting rid of a 40x40 cube, which has never felt satisying as a shape. I like low long tanks – even though this is only 60cm. This one will replace the cube. It's only 31L, but feels more, because of the form.
The DOOA has the option of adding...
After many months building a DIY cabinet for the tank, I am ready to start :)
Cabinet was built with 19 mm waterproof MDF. The height is 1 m.
I spent a lot of time to seal and coat the MDF. One layer of polyurethane sealant, two layers of polyester primer, then one coat of polyurethane...
“I’m going on an adventure!”
Well, not exactly an adventure but thought it was high time I started a journal, hopefully it will show others how our tanks progress and often morph from one path to another without us even realising it; failing that it will provide a useful place to document how...
So I am planning to completely rescape my 54 litre (60cm x 30cm x 30cm) low-tech, lightly planted tank to something better.
Substrate : Tropica Subtrat topped/capped with gravel
Filter : Fluval 106 cannister and Eheim Pickup (used this only temporarily)
Day 1 in the Big Aquascape House
Our first go at an aquascape. I've really enjoyed it and I am keen to do another, but I am not taking this one apart!

Twinstar V2 S Series 900
Oase Biomaster Thermo 600
Co2 Art PRO-SE Series. Dual Stage...
After planning a large 4x2x2 planted tank with sump system I have now had a change of mind. I’m going to have multiple smaller planted tanks instead! :D
This has also meant that I can setup the first one straight away. I have already started ordering everything with a couple of things arriving...
And so it begins again...
After another visit to @Aquarium Gardens today i have purchased a new AG 45cm that will become first and foremost a scape but also a dedicated Caridina tank.
I think i have everything i need to start, minus the plants, so i will start to work on the hard scape this...
First journal from a new member so please be nice!
Ok so where to start...
I have kept tropical fish for 5/6 years now, and my pride and joy at the moment is my Fluval Roma 125L that has been running for 3 years pretty successfully, but with the focus on the fish. I have...
550L Planted aquarium build
We have recently just set up a planted aquarium for our client in London. The client was looking for a heavily planted double island style aquascape in their living space. Any feedback is appreciated (good or bad)!!
Tank: 550L or...
For my birthday I was lucky enough to receive an ADA 60f and the kit to go along with it. I'll be putting a lot of my savings into this project too.
I've been waiting quite a while to set this up, but I had to get my trial exams out the way before I could get going.
I made a visit to Aquarium...
I am newly returning to fish keeping after I would guess a twenty year gap. Its surprising both how much has changed and at the same time how much remains the same. I am in the process of setting up a 57L Fluval Flex. Change no.1: I don't believe this style of tank existed twenty years ago...
You can see the original journal here >
And it has begun...
So my former tank ended like this
I finally got my bits and bobs together and set about correcting it.
First, remove plants and shrimp:
Now clean it up, and wash your gravel:
Hardscape in 5 mins (literally):
Hello guys! So I want to share my journey to the hobby about my first planted tank. At the moment, I am waiting for the delivery of my aquarium items. How I came about the things I purchase boils to the issue of space. I live in Hong Kong and as you know, flats and rooms here are practically...

So, after playing around with my little 55ltr cube over the last 6 months, I've managed to get my hands on a second hand Rio 180. I did the move last week with a fair amount of ease and just thought I'd start a little thread going to document the tanks progression over the next few months as it...
6 Months after taking down my first scape we're finally settled in our new house, so it's time to start again. This is a bit of a blank canvas, built with only a vague idea in my head, we'll see how we go with it!

Cheers guys, i am not posted journals a while ago, as things keeps me very busy, but since we're moving out of the crazy season it's time for sharing and caring again :)
I though i share my last tank which i built at home. Running a business is not easy and most of the guys who is involved...
Thought I would write a little journey on my first attempt on a 'low tech' aquascape.
I tried to post this in journals section, but I couldn't.
So, I have a Juwel Rio 180, internal filter with uprated pump, 1000lph and 2 x 45w T5 bulbs.
This used is what it looked like yesterday...
Here's my ADA Mini M which i recently re-scaped for Tropica. Its not a big and detailed scape but I had some nice black lava I wanted to use and wanted a nice contrasty setup to go next to the TV :)
I cut some of the lava with a Stihl Saw to get it flat against the glass where I wanted it...
Hi, a few pictures of the progress on my 60L from Day 1 to day 45. I havn't thought of a name for it yet...I think I was meant to think of a name before setting it up! Any suggestions?
