My current scape has had a shelf in it all along. (Not a recent picture, and tank only half filled.) I liked the challenge of building it, it allowed me to raise some of the plants nearer to the surface for more light, and I rationalised that the space underneath would be a sanctuary for shy...

As usual I'm trying to think latterally and come up with an alternative mesh for supporting a slope. I've seen a few mentions of Bonsai mesh, but I've only seen it for sale in small pieces. And ideally I'd like some way to have some of my substrate (Adakama) visible on top. Any suggestions?

Does this make sense when it comes to quantity of plants? The tank is 110cm wide, 70cm high, and 35cm front to back, with two large pieces of bogwood giving a sort of U-shape when looking at the front. It's going to be low tech (in the short term at least) and I think I've picked suitable plants...

I've been looking online for large pieces of wood for my tank. I was looking for "bogwood", but which has turned up results for Mopani and Sumatran Driftwood and Cornish Oak as well. I've also seen comments like "[Mopani]...only occurs in Africa" and "Genuine Bogwood, not cheap inferior mopani...

Are there any companies that make decent sized fake rocks? (I'm after something 12"-18" long.) Everything I've found is either tiny, or looks cheap and tacky, or really expensive. The one exception is Universal Rocks in Australia, and I can't find a UK supplier.
