    Garden Plant ID's. Post here!

Post your garden plant ID requests here! Thought it would be good to keep them separate from aquatic plant chat :) So, I'll start. Can anyone ID this plant that I have in the garden? It looks a lot like some sort of Hydrocotyle but I don't recall what it actually is. If memory serves, I...

Smallest Nymphaea species for aquarium use?

Just wondered what the smallest nymphaea species was that would be suitable for using in an aquarium. Googling smallest nymphaea I get Nyphaea thermarum. Not sure about whether this would be suitable though (for submersed growth).

    Nesaea pedicellata flowers - Photos

I bought some pots of Nesaea pedicellata recently but I didn't end up using them in the end, so they've been in my Rio 180 holding tank for a few months. I noticed this morning that two stems had grown above the water line and had started to flower :) The rio is using two old 25/30w T8 tubes...

Suggest a plant to add some colour?

I'm setting up a new scape at the moment which will have a lot of Rotala sp. "Green". There will be some highlights of Rotala "Nanjenshan" too, and maybe the odd Rotala rotundifolia mixed in with the green. I'm looking for another shape and colour to go with this setup and I'm struggling. At...

Pogostemon Helferi - New growth is white

One thing I have notices with the P. helferi is that the new growth on the top seems to be almost white, though the ribs and veins of the leaf seem to be normal green. It almost looks like a powder coating, for want of a better description. Could this be a defficiency of some sort? The rest of...

    Hygrophila corymbosa "Compact"

Just wondered if anyone had any experiences with this plant? I'm considering it as a smallish bushy plant for my mid-low light 80cm tank :)

Java fern "Needle" - Ends seem to be morphing

Has anyone seen this happen on a needle leaf Java before? It reminds me of Windelov slightly. Looks really cool but is only happening on a few leaves. Anyone seen this, or have I got some funky hybrid thing going on? ;)

Plant ID - Moss in one of the TGM tanks

Can anyone tell me what moss this is on the fossilised wood? It looks like either Taxiplyllum sp. 'Peacock' to me but I'm not sure... Anyone else have any idea? I could of course ask the TGM chaps, but thought I'd ask here first :)

Samolus valerandi - Anyone grown this?

I had to go to my local P@H last night *shudder* and I noticed they had some tropica plants back in. I was lucky enough as it looked like the plants had only been there for no more than a day. Anyhow, naturally I had to get some  I saw this plant and thought I'd give it a try. Has...

Hitch hiking plant on a recent purchase.

Spent several hours planting mayaca stems today and found some strange little plant growing amongst the stems on each of the bunches of mayaca. It is a strange very delicate looking stringy plant with little leaves very spaced out. I rescued about 1" square of the stuff. By coinsidence I was...

    Plant ID's please :)

Hey guys 'n gals. Wondered if anyone could ID these two plants for me: The one in the middle looks like a Mayaca sp. ? The one on the right (redish leaves/stems) I'm not so sure about. I have a niggling feeling its not aquatic but thought I'd risk it as my LFS was selling bunches at 5 for...
