How do people prune stem plants?

I just cut the stems off as low to the ground as possible and replant in amongst the old roots. I figure they will break down pretty quick and release their nutrients back to the substrate. This also stops the mess from uprooting anything..

Seems easy, a little too easy...

you could use old aquasoil that has turned to mud, place it in large flat plastic containers, fill it up and plant some cuttings. as the water evaporates the plants will start growing emergent leaves and once the water is below mud level, just water enough to keep it moist. this will have to be...

    Pruning stargrass (Heteranthera zosterifolia)

topping it and replanting is a great way to start fresh. once it gets to the height that you want it, trim it down by about 2/3rds. you can replant these tops again if you want to make it bushier, but in my experience it does that on its own.. after that first large trim you can then just keep...

    Getting Pogostemon helferi to grow?

seems like downoi likes stable water parameters more than a specific range, and even sudden changes like a 50% water change can induce melting. if you are getting immersed plants, ask what the parameters of the tank that it comes from are, and then try and replicate that, then slowly bring that...
