    Cant clean up green water

Not much use after that. But some ran it for 24 hrs like we do in cases. Would be useful if shops could let it rent for cure. We dif this in the past in our country but we stopped as the uv tube damaged with the heavy logistic. Still it was a good idea then.

    Cant clean up green water

Also not sure about the natural or ambient light if that changed, but may need to be decreased. +1 on uv with the correct flow! Ran it for 2-3 days then a water change would do the work.

    Twinstar DIY

All i read was an ADA fan boy, a blind and loyal salesmen, someone who push you buy things :) :D;) Not bad... but i thought we're here to care and share :D Still thanks for the feedback Tom. :) The more clients tanks we have the more i value all these units including UV too. Just look at...

    Twinstar DIY

Cheers Tom, i see how wet dry improove the filtration efficiency. With optimal water temp and the wet dry could max up your filters. As i've seen on our tanks this is good for many algae, like hair etc, but may have less impact on bga especially in substrate and green dot, brush. Bga sometimes...

am I loosing the battle against brown algae?

Monte Carlo need a loooots of light to perform great, and this will be the same when you trim it. You just met with some starter issue. No worry. If the flow, light, CO2, filtration would have been optimal this would look better, but still not late to turn this around. This is the sweet part of...

am I loosing the battle against brown algae?

@Antoni made many great points. Your CO2 is too much for this size of tank. Why you have 2 bottles? Where the other one is going? You basically pumping out the CO2 from the tank with the high spray bar and with this much surrface aggitation. So would be better to push down the showers like 4-5...

Is this Brown Algae / Diatoms?

Substrat pro, siporax, matrix, bio rio, etc so bio filter mediums :) most of the filters on the market today is filled with low performance mediums to have lower pricetag on the filter packaging unfortunately.

Also have your algae crew there in your tank. Siamese, plenty of shrimps.

am I loosing the battle against brown algae?

Micranthemum Sp Monte Carlo is a light demanding plant guys. If you reduce the light this plant will looks very bad. We do grow this plant in awesome speed and perfect condition. But make sure this is in an open space and get enough light. Not as picky to CO2 as HC, but for light it is. You...

Is this Brown Algae / Diatoms?

Just to give you a different point of view :) Not to mix you up but so many feedback and sometimes i feels missleading intructions. - Carbon for Amazonia is a must to have? Nope! This is useful at start but if you do not use it it's not something why you will fail. We do run dozens of tanks...

    Sudden Algae Problem

Yeah this is a starter algae which is still there because your tank is a low e tank and you do not have enough house keepers (algae eaters). Small foreground plants usually get affected by this algae with soils like Amazonia in the first few weeks. Not all the foreground plants but HC is one of...

    BBA I've tried everything

Also avoid overfeeding. And if you use extra iron ferts stop with that. So many combinations and possible reason. If i had to fix it i would go over on all possible issues til the problem exist.

    BBA I've tried everything

Not sure where the BBA exist. On plants, or on the bottom part of the tank on decors/plants etc? If this is more on the bottom, then you should check your substrate if that's covered on a recommended height which is usually 4-5 cm. Check the filter flow if this is too powerful and the flow...

    BBA driving me nuts.

Yeah i mainly seen this on small and nano tanks. But appeared a couple times. I see a reason to add only the necessary CO2 to the tank. At the beginning less later more. I've seen BGA next to the injection areas where the CO2 was on the highest level with low flow tanks. Once the CO2 reduced to...

    BBA driving me nuts.

Too much co2 also cause bba. With atomizer and the tons of bubbles around the tank this is my first tip. Since you have less light and probably more slow growers its safer to slow down the injection a bit, then add some id this isnt enough. Too much flow can also cause it if the flow lift up the...

    BGA/Cyanobacteria Again... Help required.

Blue Exit and some extra flow (with Koralia for example) is really helpful. You also can inject Easy Carbo/Excel to the soil where the BGA present. That kill in hours.
  17. viktorlantos

    persistant BGA

There are a few options to try: Increase nitrate if that's too low. Suck the BGA with a hose at WC and sprinkle Bacter 100 - based on the ADA suggestion. Spot dosage Easy Carbo to the infected areas. In one hour the BGA will disappear. (just stop the filter for a few minutes)

    hc covered in algae

+1 vote on this. Toss in 15 amano shrimps they will clean it up in 2-3 days.

    Diatoms, again.

i would simple double the size of the amanos in your tank. the only problem is the nano size. i am sure they would escape before they would finish up the task. :D

    hair algae

maybe i am wrong but it looks more like Rhizoclonium. Which is not hair algae: http://www.theplantedtank.co.uk/algae.htm
  21. viktorlantos

Algea or fungus? Nightmare help! GETTING WORSE!

Looks like the green long hair algae is Rhizoclonium. This will be worst if you're not doing something with it. i do not know what kind of rock you're using in your setup, but i bet that is the number 1 reason for the issue. would remove that immediately. after you did that, water change and...

    Cleaning glassware

i used the ADA brushes and the Eheim brush set too. to clean inside of these glasses are painful especially if the diameter is small and you have more curve. ADA came out with a new brush for 13 and 17 glasses called Spring Washer. This is a simple but pretty cool tool to clean easily all kinds...

    Green Water

my experience is that if you have a tank with full of mosses like mine - 20 liter one- then you easily have problems with algae. on my other tank (240 liter i never had algae problems) viewtopic.php?f=35&t=6440 Adding in liquid bacteria usually helps to you to stregth your current colony as...

    Green Water

A few other solutions are there from ADA. They use NA Carbon filter materials to remove the green water continously. There's a product called Clear Dash from them which helps too, maybe you need to repeat it sometimes. At last i can tell you which worked for me. This is the ADA Green Bacter...
