ADA Amazonia soil does not supply po4. Other ADA soils does not supply anything like malaya and africana. But mainly amazonia used.
Yup high light slower growth less maintenance (on decors too). But more closer look on overall health and immediate action on issues vs the ei way of turbocharged...
Would be really useful.
Especially as we use soft and hard waters. When to use this or that. When tests will not work.
Here science could help for us to see the light :)
My point was that there could be different kind of issues too than algae. We frequently talks about how to avoid algae and everything is aligned to that.
I mentioned shrimp death and plant leaf loose on a specific specie, but based on your example my situation maybe was special.
Adding another tweak to the PO4 madness. Meanwhile we're talking about adding in more and more PO4.
Other ferts like ADA has 0 PO4. Nitrate is at 5ppm or under.
It is not about brand now, but a different side of the story.
We all can agree that they are using high energy tanks mainly. Lots of...
Yeah on the other hand 10ppm PO4 seems like crazy lot to me. Remind me Tom Barr's earlier comment years back about super high nitrate levels vs shrimps.
I could not quote exactly, but he mentioned like 2 or 3 times more NO3 than avg EI without any problems with his shrimps. He had zillions of...
I think sometimes there are other stuff on the plate. So meanwhile i accept your point of view, believe me we're on top of CO2.
This issue happened typically with external CO2 reactor injection where CO2 distribution never an issue. I only seen with staurogyne rep.(matured one not fresh planted...
Yes, this affect most of the active soils we're using these days. Since we have more experience with Japanese soils (many of them) i only can tell these.
Sometimes you can handle this with PO4, but there are times when you just can't. So need to check the light volume and timeframe you're...
I can't edit my previous post, but the reason why i would check PO4 as this will change in your tank lifetime. More plants, less plants, more light less light, clay soils etc.
From the photo you posted seems like you use clay soil in your tank. Many of these soils can suck up PO4 in the first...
Go with this or that one. Not mix it.
With ADA way you will be low on nitrate with EI the opposite way.
We do use more ADA in tanks where you have higher grade shrimps or where we need slower growth more nicer RED colors.
You also can have nice reds with EI too with tons of light, but for me...
Well i vote for CO2 in CRS tanks. Not the over the top yellowish DC one ;) But a stable injection.
CRS Feeding time by viktorlantos, on Flickr
This tank is with CO2, ADA ferts daily. No carbo at this moment. They are low grades, but they are breeding nicely there.
Sometimes i have more...
The cabinet probably you seen is our premium line stand. So this is not a home made stuff. Pretty high qual with nice details and waterproof too. I can't make a journal on this as this produced by a prof manufacturer for us.
But you can find many nice cabinets on this board. I've seen several in...
CRS shrimps are not that sensitive really. I think it is a myth. So many guys failed in the past including me too because i focused on other things.
They looks brilliant with high light (become more colorful)
With good filtration you can minimize the losses.
No worry on ferts, but you do not...
No issues with ADA ferts.
I read sometimes that these shrimps could keep with low nitrates only, but honestly i also kept it with EI. They breed too with 20-30mg Nitrates. Maybe a bit slower then it would be with lower i am not sure about but i tested this many times with CRS shrimps from low...
cheers Graeme
You can try to increase the ammount for a real red, but slowly. For a small tank like yours algae comes quickly with a bit of an overdose. However real red comes with additional dosage to the basic.
Neil, i would not overdose Easy Carbo. Especially if you have otto and CRS. Easy Carbo is really concentrated, and with a little overdose the CRS will die. I had bad experiences in the past with shrimps. Using carbo a while ago on my tanks. But in these days i do great without it too.
I am not...
You're right. But Brighty K is not really for chlor off. ADA uses this product for fertilization only.
There's an anti-chlor product which ADA recommend to use for water changes. ADA Chlor-Off.
So to use Brighty K is not really an efficient way for this. ;)...
