Hi.. Nice looking tank. I had exactly the same issues as you do and polysperma was one of the plants involved. After a lot of help from this forum (special thanks to Clive) I first tried increasing co2 to the max (which resulted in two of my best rainbows dying). Not much changed and I was then...
Hi everyone.. just to give feedback. I seem to have solved the riddle in my tank.. atleast for now. I put in a new set of frogbits and they r doing well. I was underdosing micros even though i was doing as per directions on the seachem floruish bottle. I started doubling that and every plant...
And have you seen other videos by Dr Kevin Novak. He says Nitrate and phophate if added as ferts are toxic to aquatic plants. he says that the nitrates from the filter bacteria and phophate from fish feed is enough. so i would consider his claims with pinch (more likely a container) of salt.
Even if I dont agree with the cleaning part I can still digest its logic. But Tuberculosis through that.. come on. I live in a TB endemic country and I am a doctor by profession too. The only mycobacterium that can come through water are atypical ones and those too through public pools which are...
This is my frogbit. The size of new leaves seem to diminishing and older leaves just turn Brown and mushy. Most of my plants inside the tank seem to have this problem of older leaves turning Brown. So I was thinking either co2 or ferts. The whole thing is on another thread in Ukaps. So I have...
I know this thread is old. But would like to add something. I have been growing limnophila sessiliflora and the browning of the older leaves is due to nutritional deficiency rather than poor light or algae. It gives bright green leaves in low light environment but only thing is that it may have...
Hi Jameson-uk.. I know this is an old thread but I saw your recent posts on the frogbits regarding yellowing and was wondering how you got over the isues you have mentioned in this thread. I have been facing the same exact problems what you have mentioned here with my frogbits. They develop...
Hi Steve.. I have been experiencing similar kind of issues too. U can have a look at my recent posts. Mine s a 100 g co2 injected tank. My ferts use also very similar. And deficiency r also very much like urs. After extensive discussions in the forum I too purchased florin fe which contains...
Sorry for the late update.. that set of l aromatica didn't pull through. So got another set and they did even worse.. there was a magnesium overdose which I have subsequently corrected. I am back to a 1.5 hr siesta due to green string algae. I am getting l aromatica again for the fifth time...
Update.. I have increased my co2 delivery from 2bps to 4bps with co2 coming on 2 hrs before lights on and going off 1 hr prior to lights off. Apart from this I have started dosing k2so4 5 tsp in 600 ml of water dosed 30 ml on alternate days. I think I may have Magnesium toxicity leading to Ca...
Ok.. I have just started dosing k2so4 this week. Let's c whether the situation changes. I have increased the kh2po4 by 2 spoons today in the original mix. So keeping fingers crossed. Most plants r doing reasonably well with a bit of green string algae which I keep removing by hand. Flow s decent...
This a 100 g planted tank with co2 injection and being lighted for 6 hrs.. I dose reduced ei based on long term observations of nitrate and phosphate levels. Water s RO to which I add seachem equilibrium with each water change. My dosing is like this
Macro..
10 tsp of kno3 + 2 tsp of kh2po4...
Thanks for the suggestion.. I think I figured it out. It s probably the siesta.. My light timings were
On 7.30 to 11.30 - 2 bulbs only
Off 11.30 to 1.30
On 1.30 to 4.30 - all 4 bulbs
I was never getting any pearling with this schedule. And I have been following this schedule for sometime now...
Thanks for the reply.. I moved the drop checker today morning to the place u said. The plants initially grew extremely well. My co2 ran out for a day before I refilled it. But after that it has been a downhill course. I thought maybe it was the co2 too but drop has been light green.. and this is...
Can anyone shed some light On this .. has anyone had similar experiences with l aromatica and then gone onto growing them well..

If u can c in those pics.. the limnophila aromatica has lost most of its leaves except for the top. Don't think it's deficient light as I was running so much light that I was starting to get lots of string algae and some bba too. Co2 too was cranked up with a green indicator @ 3 bps in...
Hi all... this is the third time i am trying to grow purple limnophila aromatica in my tank. I read somewhere that u need to float the stems in water for a week for the roots to develop before u plant them. This also applies during trimming. My plants usually grow really well in the beginning...
Is there anything wrong with seachem iron. It says it's ferrous gluconate. Can u pls explain wats wrong with using that.. I read thru the posts u suggested but cudnt get why seachem s not good.

I do add weekly doses of micros (seachem flourish) and seachem iron. I know some ppl say flourish is macros but it says micro on the container. And my water is RO to which I add seachem equilibrium to make sure there s no calcium def. So u c that I have tried to cover all my bases. Anyway now...
Yeah.. guess I was a bit over zealous in the beginning but that was early on. I had to remove all the burnt rotala. But after that episode I brought things under control. This is a new set of rotala. For the past three months my nitrates are around 5 to 10 ppm and phosphates between 2 and 5...
Limnophila aromatica were just planted last night. They were grown emersed.
If u can c that the ludwigia is unhealthy and melting. Aquatica has turned Brown. Rotala seems to be recovering but lost most of its leaves.
Have increased lighting to all 4 lights for 6 hrs and two lights only for 2...
Hi.. I have been keeping a co2 injected planted tank for almost a year now. In the first 4 months plant growth was dense and robust probably from the nutrients leached from Ada Amazonia. However after that I started dosing dry ferts..
As per ei dosing..
100 gallon tank
So.. 10 teaspoons of...
Sorry for the late feedback.. just figuring out wat happened. Bn plecos definitely had a hay day with my swords. But the stem plants like limnophila seem to have died due to overdosing of ferts. My nitrates and phosphates were off the chart. Cut down on the ferts now. Planted some fresh...
When was the tank set up. Has it finished cycling? By which I mean do u have zero ammonia and nitrite. Wats ur nitrates and phosphates? U seem to be doing things correctly and so I understand ur frustrations. Don't worry will try and help u as I have also felt helpless at some point. Also r...
These are the limnophila aromatica.. they were prospering once with livid purple colors. They have lost their purple and now the bottom and mid level leave have gone.
The plecos have been there from the inception of this tank. I have not seen this kind of picture before.
Apart from predation...
Hmm.. that cud be the answer. These changes started becoming more noticeable after I introduced the Otos. I am guessing this will not affect any new leaves and that the plant survives this. Even the limnophila has lost most of its leaves which was never the case. Will post those pics Tom...
Hi everyone.. I have two sword plants which were doing very well until recently. First my co2 was down for about a week during which they developed some bba but once I restarted co2 that was solved. But after that they both have shown a downhill course. These r my tank specs..
100 gallon...
