    How to clean glass ?

You will need to spend a lot of time grinding the glass down, wear a face mask. Really deep scratches, this is not going to work. I suggest to clean the tank once it's broken down: clean razor blades, change them out frequently. Clean top to the bottom, then pull the plastic scaper away from...

    IKEA Besta Cabinet

I suppose if you have a 10-20 liter aquarium, it's okay. It's made like crap, cost not much, but you have to make it. It's cheap and okay, but little comes from IKEA that is strong and worthy of tank stands.

    Whatever happened to ...

I used Reverse flow UG filters made from PVC pipe, actually CPVC which is smaller yet, this did fine, but I turned them off, the plants still did fine, also did the same with Heat cables to illustrate the lack of any benefit. Simple test to solve the issue. Seedlings need optimal temps to...

    Whatever happened to ...

Not the cheapo ones today..The Dupla Cables ran about 400-700$, the Sandpoint ran about 300-400$. Or you could DIY and spend maybe 15-30$ tops. I did all 3 options, 10 years, maybe 100 species of plants........never could show a difference. Mats were strongly argued against by the Dupla Fan...

The easiest way to do a 40% water change?

Pay a teenager to do it  Or: Other End drains to garden or drain etc..........then when the level is reached, you take the other end and attach to the bathroom shower head etc and refill/add dechloro. No buckets are harmed this way.

DIY Project DIY Water Changer, No more buckets!!

Simply hang onto the tank, start siphon to drain, after, I attach the end to the shower head, adjust temp and refill. I wander off, no need to stop it since the pipe has a pre set depth of draining. I just watch when it is filling. Regards, Tom Barr

Auto Dosing EI with a dosing pump (diagram and calculations)

And a IV type drip can be hung on a light bar like these: Makes it easy to watch and adjust the rates of dosing. I think this would do well if you like messing with NH4 dosing also, smaller metered dosing. This assumes that the timers, drip rates and mechanical issues are good and nothign...

    DIY ADA Style Cabinet

Yes, got to get paid, or...learn to do it yourself, or get a job that pays well. Since that wood is taken, the cost goes way up. I've planted it for the most part now. Going to wait for it to grow in good before adding fish. Regards, Tom Barr

    DIY ADA Style Cabinet

I had this made for me for 260$ USD, probably like 10 pence for you folks with the way the dollar is these days: If you look around, perhaps you can get someone to make one locally for you all? I'll be getting more of these from this builder, I'll upgrade the 120 gal and then the 60 Cubes...

    Aquarium substrate heater

They are 10-20x cheaper than they once where....hence the investigation into whether they worked............. But for 20-30$, they run about the same as many stick heaters.........which is about all they ever do. Heat water. Tom Barr

DIY Project DIY Reactor - pictures, assembly and testing

Ed you can add the venturi loop to this by addign another air valve about 6 cm down to atomize the gas build up inside later in the day, this will improve overall performance and reduce backpressure. See my web site on the dual venturi in line. Regards, Tom Barr

    Dealing with condensation

Nice modern windows are the real cure, but in light of that, I've had to go to a dehumidifyer and a fan with 5 open top aquariums in my place, mould city otherwise.......... PITA, not bad when it's low humidity here in /CA like most of the year, but the wet cool winters are murder. You folks...
