    Apistogramma agasizii

Cheers Antoni. I'd recommend them if you get chance. Stu, they are ok. The male is always quite feisty but doesn't attack. He patrols and sees off any interlopers but that's it. The female is inquisitive but quite shy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Apistogramma agasizii

One half of my breeding pair. Man made 'flame' colours, which some aren't fond of but I think they are lovely.

    Corydoras Sterbai.

I'm a big fan of sterbai and I've managed to get a reasonable shot of a couple today. If you saw this in my journal I apologise but thought it was worth showing here too. Little and Large:

    Which camera?

The 600D is a better body but the real difference is in the lenses. You are right though. You can pick up a f1.8 50mm canon lens for £50-£60. They look and feel a bit cheap but the glass is very good quality and it produce great results. Much better (but less versatile) than the kit zoom that...

    Aquarium specific photography tips

Thanks all. I think I'll shoot with and without and see what I like most then. I'm still umming and ahhing about entering contests. I'm not good enough to get anyway but I feel like it's important to get involved, so might well do. I'd have loved to have shot this on my old mamiya medium...

    Aquarium specific photography tips

Thanks chaps. I might try bouncing a flash from above for some extra light. Good idea, as long as I can direct it enough. Wide lens and ripples. Hmm. Brings me to my next question. Remove lily pipes and use a hairdryer, or leave them in?

    Aquarium specific photography tips

Hi all, I've been a photographer for a long time and regularly write for the photographic press, so I am comfortable around cameras and associated gear. However I'm fairly new to the whole aquascaping scene and I wondered if you had any good tips and tricks related to shooting aquariums...

    Amano shrimp

The 60D is a good body. Better than the rebel/xt/kiss (all the same thing but different names for different countries). The glass is always the biggest impact and a good lens will make a bad body better. Flip side is nothing can help bad glass. A 1.4 50mm is a good lens to have. Is it an L...

    Amano shrimp

I'll take the compliment and five my opinion. Thanks! Ok, as for cameras this is such a tricky subject. Unless you are making a living from photography just buy what you can afford. As long as you have a variety of modes, such as sport or landscape, you'll be fine. One thing to look out for...

    Amano shrimp

I think you are probably right. I write for some of the camera magazines so I tend to be using calibration cards for a lot of noise appraisal. Noise is quite obvious in those conditions but in a shot like these it probably isn't too noticeable. Just habit. I'll set up some shots soon with a 5D...

    Amano shrimp

Thanks. I shot this at ISO 800. This is as high as I would like to go. Any more and noise becomes an issue. If I was shooting properly I'd used a tripod and some extra lighting but this was an off the cuff thing. Overall I'm pleased but yes, it could certainly be better.

    Amano shrimp

Hi all, I took a couple of photos this afternoon, after my Amano shrimp decided to get right up close and personal. No warning so the photos are pretty basic but I think they turned out well. These are lit from just the 2 T5s and ambient light. Shot on a 550D with a kit lens. I'm going...
