That's a pretty intense lighting unit you have. Strange that the HC is pearling yet the PP is curling ..... Pretty good rhyme I no haha but I'm think ill sit back and see where this thread goes.

I thought it mate had been my lack of high light. 11w over 30liters and its a deep tank. My co2 is way high. So ill just tell myself it's the light haha

I've never managed to get my plants to pearl. They look really really healthy growth is fast just no pearling :/

It's a stunning plant! I had a really nice decent portion of the stuff from another member on here. Mine rotted away after being left the tank was left in the garden after I split with an ex.... Poor fern :( haha

That's a good point made by Viktor with trimming. It can look horrific after a big trim. Which again I guess this is why amano mixes with riccia. I think Glosso or hydropiper mixed with some so Japan would look really nice

Glosso is really easy, I've not had much luck with HC, I should try again though tbh as it's been a while. Glosso looks good with a few spots of riccia close to the staury. Have a look at some ADA 60p I think it is, ill have a search and post an example.

Would it be more likely that the floaters are blocking the light?

Is there a difference between that and Japan stingy moss? Mine looks nothing like that.

Was it mega thick before you trimmed it? If so it could be that the moss right at the base has had a bit of die off due to lack of light and nutrients. If it is all literally brown and dead well it could be too late but aslong as it looks atleast half alive it'll grow back in time. Upload a pic.

I had my gloss growing skybound, great co2 distribution and flow was on point. After i trimmed hard a couple times I had a weed like carpet that grew so so dense and was hard to keep on top of in a 20ltr Trim so there is one leaf left at the substrate then with what you remove replant :)

Yeah!! Riccia! Forgot that one haha. Lava rock is good moss rock :) I've be tempted to try the amano technique I saw the other week. Dice the moss extreme fine and smear onto the rock. If I can find the video ill re post here mate. Where are you ordering the moss from?

Why not spend a little bit a really smart bit of sand/gravel. ADA do some really cool ones, the have some larger rocks and a nice bit of wood decorated with moss. I think having a full moss carpet without any co2 could be a bit pants, it never looks any where near as good as it does with co2...

Going to second that for moss carpet, nice bit of hair grass, to add some Taller plants I'd go for needle fern, or narrow fern. Where did you get you hold of the tank?

I think shrimp help loads with moss, debris is abut of a killer with moss.

ive never used it, but in my opinion id be inclined to trim it, unless you want it to grow vertically. Trimming could push it to spread a little.

Sure does. I've found if growing amongst other mosses, and entangled in dense area of planting. The deal with pellia is that when reeeeeaally dense it doesn't rot and stays attached even will little to no ligh at the base. So if a little bit gets detached and finds its way around the tank...

Hello mate, I would stay away from hairnets as I've heard stories of fish getting caught in them. I used fishing line and its invisible to the eye :) As Darrel mentions I'd go for xmas moss too.

2nd that... Why dry start? I don't think attempting a dsm on a tank with such a variety of plants for you 1st dsm is a wise move.. Just my 2bucks :)

Ferns also, mosses are really good though as matt said. Also there some nice crypt species aswell, on the tropica website I'm pretty sure it has a whole list of plants and there need look for the crypts and stems aswell.

Hello Jon In my high tech tank it grew like crazy so I've moved some into my jack dempsey tank witch has pretty crap lighting and no ferts, the lighting period is long, and the plant obviously gets it co2 needs from the air above the tank :) we shall see how it grows. Brilliant plant though...

Hello mate I have never seen dwarf riccia for sale in store or online in the UK and have only seen in in the forsale thread once. I got some aswell as some mini moss from aquasabi, google it. Its a german site. It came it great condition but I struggled big time with both the moss and riccia...

Olly knotts normal will be fine, plus it would look abit poo having a mix of both. Remember to plant the hc in very small portions, a few springs planted close to each other rather than bug clumps.
