bertie i found it was loud when I first started using it. i set it back up again a few weeks back and it no longer makes the noise. couldnt figure out why. Ive just realised it was because I had a filter sponge over the inlet!

if you remove the top of the skimmer off and stick your finger over the hole you should be able to notice the suction, if not try adjusting the length of the intake

This is what ive done. Have not noticed a significant drop in flow compared to the other one which is on the same tank but not running a splitter.

To be honest Im currently using a t splitter, however my main feed goes through the top of the t qnd comes out the other end of the top of the t so it does not make that much of a difference if that makes sense. Hang on.......

I run two of them on my discus tank. They are not the greatest but they can turnover a fair chunk of water and mine have been running for a year. I doubt a jubilee clip would work and even if it did it would serioulsly reduce flow. Best option is to get a y splitter and split the piping to two...

its pretty standard. i find its better to clean the filter without a water change, let it run and then do a large water change 20 mins later.

ironically ive just found a 500lph pc water cooling pump that i used to run in a high powered P.C. just had a quick re wire and a test and at around 1m high it ran at 100lph. going to test again and if it works, ill use it until january, and consider getting a better one then.

tbh, i wouldnt mind if it took an hour as you said my substrate will remain intact. the barrel will be sat next to the tank anyway so i could just turn it on and get on with the housework for an hour as my tank should be fine for n hour without the filter on.

Yes I now have two of them running on my 285l. They are very quiet, and the flow rate seems reasonable, however I have never used another external to compare them to. Spray bars are not the best but for the price you cant complain I can put a vid on youtube tomorrow if you want?.

ive ended up getting a copper reducer pipe from b&q, it fits my 22mm aps tubing and reduces it to 15mm, the tubing is really tight but to be on the safe side ive thrown on jubilee clips. and i have purchased a new 16mm spraybar and tubing to attach to the other side of the heater. i am aware...
