    Do I need CO2?

If it aint broke dont fix it! However, I notice your looking to grow more demanding plants. if you want to go down the co2 route i'd reccomend saving up and going for a pressurised system as it is more stable. if you do go down that route i would also look into regular fert dosing.
  2. krazypara3165

am i wasting my time ?

you could remove the co2 and stop dosing E.I but you will encounter slower growth rates and you may find the onset of algae if the lighting is too much.
  3. krazypara3165

am i wasting my time ?

Your tank will give you all the answers you need. are you getting good growth? is there no algae? if the answer to this is yes then it seems you have the correct balance!

    co2 idea on flow outlet.

just be careful if your planning on keeping a planted tank via co2 and discus. Discus are specialist fish and are less tolerant to co2 than other fish meaning its harder to get the balance right. I ended up stunting some of my discus because my water parameters favoured the plants rather than...

    Co2 Distribution.....

I have always had difficulty with co2 distribution so I would like to know if this idea would work..... I have a 4ft 285l aquarium, with x2 external cannisters and 2kg co2 cannister with a standard diffuser. my filter pipes have been split on one of my filters to accommodate an in-line heater...

    Tmc reg gauge

And the gauge (if its the one on your reg) will only show pressure when the handle is down. And just if your windering the small amound thats released after will not be enough to register on the gauge.
  11. krazypara3165

    Tmc reg gauge

It lets it out after you release the handle as it builds up between the co2 valve (handle) and the reg valve/solenoid. All sounds fine.
  12. krazypara3165

    Tmc reg gauge

If its not down the co2 is not flowing. When you turn your valve there will be a residual amount of co2 in the chamber that will come out but if the handle of the f.e is not taped down it cant come out.
  13. krazypara3165

    Tmc reg gauge

Yo do realise the handle needs to be down permanantly?
  14. krazypara3165

    Tmc reg gauge

Is there anything coming out when you turn the reg on? Is the cylinder heavy still?

Co2 Regulator Best Without Breaking The Bank

Ive had two. A stunning looking dennerle and a cheap welding one thwt was unsightly and bulky. That said i never had a problem with either.
  16. krazypara3165

    FE and safety

Cant believe ive never seen that episode! Best way ive found is make sure everythings off, put it all together SLOWLY depress handle. If there is a leak your only releasing a tiny amount. Onfe its depressed all the way then open your valve. The problem is not setting it up, you need to make...

    Co2 Issue

i'd look into the hose that you are using? is it branded co2 hose? youll find a lot of companies state "air/co2 hose" when in reality most air hoses are a rubbery very flexable material whereas proper co2 hose is made of a harder plastic, it shouldnt feel rubbery. if its an airline the tube will...

    Co2 Issue

... the only thing i can think of is that is just the excess pressure that has built up in the pipe overnight releasing?

What diffuser and bubble counter for 60p

Yes, it has gave me uniform distribution, although it took a while to get the exact placement of the diffuser so that each intake drew up an even amount of bubbles. Trapped air is not usually a problem, although occasionally I will get a tiny burst of bubbles from the spraybar but nothing too bad.
  21. krazypara3165

What diffuser and bubble counter for 60p

Sorry, the main reason its underneath my intakes is so I can get even distribution, because both of my pumps are picking it up, otherwise because of my layout, if I had it elsewhere (unlezs I use two inline atomisers with two needle valves) I would not get even distribution.
  22. krazypara3165

What diffuser and bubble counter for 60p

shouldnt go too far wrong with one of these. its pretty much as small as they go. granted is a 4ft tank, but if you look in the center underneath the intakes that gives you a rough idea of the size.

    pressurized co2 virgin ..aquagro expert..

Ibe got a load of spare co2 kit knocking around, if you can wait till the weekend i'll see if I can build one for you, I have a spare 500g bottle a spare reg and even a spare solenoid somewhere.... So it will still be small and it will last at least 5x longer plus you will be able to turn it off...

    CO2 advice

I'm still a noob when it comes to co2 but i shall tell you what ive learnt so far.... "co2 is then completely dissolved in the waterbeing returned to the tank?" - To my knowledge you still get the co2 bubbles, but they are smaller and more efficient as transfering the co2 to the water. "My...

    Arghhhhhhhh Solenoid!!!!

ok, so this is really strange....... i was talking to the seller yesterday who informed me that he tested it prior to sending, knowing the seller on here i knew he is not the kind of person that would 'tell fibs'. so ive had another look at it today, if i attach two pieces of tubing to either...

    How to increase co2?

Sorted! i found out that if i remove the airline there is a tiny flat head valve, just threw a screwdriver in and cranked it up. so now its just a case of increasing co2 until i get the right levels.

its just a simple glass diffuser, the regulator powers it fine, its been running for two weeks (altho i can never seem to get more than 6 bps, but im assuming the regulator is for a smaller sized tank (dennerle) however this is off topic its the actual soleniod (seperate) that seems to be...

    How to increase co2?

lights are off on that pic so the co2 is off. all day today the reg has been opened all the way so has the bottle. atlho it is only a 500g bottle i would assume its designed for a smaller tank than my 300l.

    How to increase co2?

in recent days, i have noticed the lower leaves on some of my plants are struggling. Im hoping to rule flow out as i can see all plants gently swaying and my drop checker is constant lime green and i also have a full length spray bar. So that leaves it down to either ferts (dosing E.I...

    TMC V2 Refillable system

it looks like you will be hard pressed to get any non-nano tank and regulators in there, if your planning on co2 becomming a permanent fixture would it not be easier taking the shelf out? or cutting it so a bottle fits in?
  43. krazypara3165

    Co2 solenoid

thats what i thought. only problem is that will the pressure not build up between the regulator and the solenoid causing the tube to blow off?

Cheers, but thats a bit more than I wanted to spend.... I have a reasonable one that I will be getting from a friend but I may have to wait a few weeks. This is just to keep me going until then.

    Co2 solenoid

co2 drop checker staying lime green?

Surface scum is fine now, the water has gone a bit cloudy but that is probably due to having to move 6 neon tetras over from a smaller tank due to a hob filter giving up. Either way, its clearing up every day as im doing constant water changes. And the plnts are looking good with good growth...

co2 drop checker staying lime green?

Just got in from work and presto, its blue without having to take it out. Now I know im new to this but this seems highly unusual.... Co2 was turned off at 5, lights went off at 6 and was still green at 9pm last night, strange as it is a open tank with a lot of surface agitation.......

    CO2 Distribution

Just what I wanted to hear! Cheers ceg. Ive read your posts about a lot of people having problems due to poor circulation so I want to get it nailed from the start. I dont suppose you know if this would cause any build up of waste to occur in he corners due to he outlets being so central?

    CO2 Distribution

You see, that was my other option. However my outlet pipes are 22/26 no heater/atomiser fits on them. So far im going to have to split one outlet to two 16/22 pipes for the heater to fit. Altho this is a good idea, id need more y adaptors, more downsizors, two needle valves and a further...
